"Leadership doesn't require perfection. It requires the courage to examine yourself before asking others to change."

Officer Wellness is Personal. Leadership is Not.

Law enforcement supervisors cannot make health decisions for their officers. They can, however, influence the culture in which those decisions are made.

Supervisors are often the first to notice when a good officer begins to change—a shorter temper, declining performance, increased absences, withdrawal, exhaustion, or problems that begin following them home.

The question is whether you know what to do next.

Fit to Lead gives supervisors practical tools to recognize problems earlier, have better conversations, examine the example they personally set, and create an organizational culture where wellness is supported before a problem becomes a crisis.

RECOGNIZE

See it Earlier.

Identify early signs of stress, burnout, and declining performance. Understand when a difficult week may be becoming more serious and how a supervisor can appropriately respond.

MODEL

Leadership Starts With You.

Examine the example your own habits set for the people you lead. Learn practical, evidence-informed approaches to healthier habits and self-evaluation without believing good leadership requires perfect health.

LEAD

Build the Culture.

Learn how supervisor behavior, everyday conversations, policy and command expectations can create an environment that encourages wellness, resilience, accountability and sustainable performance.

You don't have to be perfect to make a difference.

WE'VE LIVED IT, TOO!

We've experienced firsthand how the demands of law enforcement can affect health, habits, marriage and family.

We've also learned that meaningful change requires awareness, accountability, and a willingness to start.

We teach Fit to Lead from a position of shared experience, decades of law enforcement leadership, medical expertise, and hard but extremely valuable lessons learned from making changes in our own lives.

We'll talk more about that when we meet.

Lived Experience. Leadership Perspective. Medical Expertise.

WILLIAM C. TOLLY, CLEE, MSCJ

Retired Deputy Chief of Police

William Tolly brings more than 33 years of law enforcement experience, including more than 15 years in command-level leadership. His career included service in patrol, investigations, SWAT leadership, supervision, command and executive administration.

His Fit to Lead instruction focuses on supervisory responsibility, self-leadership, organizational culture and the practical realities of leading people in the law enforcement profession.

DORA GONZALES-TOLLY, D.O.

Board-Certified Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine Physician

Dr. Gonzales-Tolly brings the clinical side of Fit to Lead, translating medical science into practical information supervisors can understand and use.

Her instruction addresses occupational physiology, cardiovascular and metabolic health, obesity, shift-work physiology, anxiety and depression, healthy habit formation and sustainable behavior change.

She also candidly speaks from the perspective of a law enforcement wife.

WHAT WE'RE HEARING

As we've discussed Fit to Lead with law enforcement leaders, instructors, and others familiar with the profession, several themes keep coming up:

A husband-and-wife team—a retired deputy chief and physician—who have both experienced the law enforcement life and can speak from their individual and shared perspectives. What an opportunity.

Having a practicing physician specialist involved sets this class apart from traditional officer wellness training.

These conversations are needed from the top down, along with real-world tools supervisors can actually use to make a difference.
